Hello, my family recently immigrated to Den Haag from the Unites States.
For more than fifteen years, I worked in the Content Center for Meredith Corporation, where the flagship magazine Better Homes and Gardens, counted on me for the color corrections throughout the magazine. I was responsible for editing and retouching images on a wide variety of subjects, preflight layouts against guidelines, create PDF files, work directly with design and print vendors to assure pages would print correctly, and to troubleshoot issues as they arose. I earned a reputation for managing multiple projects while providing service that exceeded expectations. My knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and the ability to solve problems made me the primary resource for technical issues in the department.
During my time with Meredith, I became one of the most respected members of the department. The BHG staff counted on me as an asset that could improve what they had produced. They regularly said, “Brian can fix that.” My relationship with art directors allowed me to share information on the photographic processes that could be improved, leading to greater efficiencies and better photography overall. I was an integral part of the technical development of the department, working on revised color profile processes, testing new hardware and software, and developing best practices and training. I was a principal member of the Content Center team that evaluated the current Meredith photography guidelines, diagnosed problem images, and provided solutions on how the photography could be improved.
My passion for photography extends to other activities as well. I am a freelance photographer that has worked with The New York Times, Reuters, and others. I published a photography book on Mixed Martial Arts in Iowa called “Fight Night” and am working on a personal project called “A Mothers Love” that showcases the physical sacrifices mothers make to have children.
I was also an adjunct professor at Des Moines Area Community College. I taught an introductory class, Photoshop for Photographers, and an Advanced Imaging Techniques class. I created and developed the curriculum for the Advanced Imaging Techniques class, which focused on complex retouching and color theory. It was the first time an advanced Photoshop class was offered at the school.
I am currently available to work as a contractor through my BV and can be a full-time employee with a work visa sponsorship. Thank you for your time, and hope to hear from you soon.
