English to German (and vice versa) translator/proofreader

We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable English to German translator/proofreader (and vice versa) to join our team. As a translator/proofreader, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and polished translations, ensuring that the tone, style, and meaning of the original text are preserved in the target language.

The ideal candidate has a strong command of both English and German, excellent attention to detail, and a deep understanding of cultural nuances. Also, any previous experience working in translations, proofreading, subtitle editing, transcription and etc, will be a great plus.

The work will start small-scale at the beginning but may develop into a full-time opportunity with the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Translate a wide range of content, including documents, articles, website content, marketing materials, and more from English to German and vice versa.
• Proofread and edit translations for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and style consistency.
• Conduct research to ensure proper terminology and language usage.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and objectives.
• Communicate effectively with team members to clarify requirements and address questions or concerns.

Requirements:

• Native / near-native proficiency in both English and German languages.
• Excellent knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling in both languages.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in style and tone.
• Familiarity with translation software and tools (e.g., CAT tools) is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
• Proven experience as a translator/proofreader, specifically in English to German and German to English translation, is a great plus, but not mandatory.
