What the unit is about
This unit aims to give students a comprehensive understanding of innovation and commercialisation. In today’s competitive landscape it is critical that organisations continually innovate both their product offering and processes to ensure that they remain competitive in the market. Adopting a more commercially driven approach is vital to maximise the Return on Investment (ROI).
In this unit, students will look at a number of tools and techniques that organisations use to drive innovation and become more commercial in their approach. The unit gives students cutting-edge knowledge as well as practical application of the keyways in which organisations become more innovative while remaining commercially driven.
By the end of the unit, students will have gained an understanding of how innovation is fostered, harnessed, and managed in organisations. They will learn the value of innovation and its importance to supporting commercial growth. They will also acquire knowledge that will enable them to develop a creative and innovative approach that will benefit them throughout their career. By the end of this unit a student will be able to:
• LO1 Investigate how innovation is sourced and supported within different types of organisations
• LO2 Explore the processing of different types of innovation within organisations
• LO3 Apply the process required to commercialise innovation within an organisation
• LO4 Evaluate the range of methods for protecting innovation within organisations.
The target audience
This unit is part of the Bachelor’s program. So, the target audience are students aged 18 to 23 with a practical business focus. These students are in the first year.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for a lecturer who can contribute the necessary practical experience to inspire our full-time students.
The unit is in English. It is therefore necessary that you have a good command of English.
The planning
The unit will start in the full-time programme on Thursday 29 August 2024 and will continue until Thursday 28 November 2024 with the final presentations. Lecture times 09.00-16.20.

What we can offer
We pay € 65. - per hour, free of VAT. A lecture day consists of 6 lecture hours of 60 minutes. This means € 390. - per day. Rate includes preparation and marking of day tests and (re) exams, oral administration, supervision and marking of assignments. So, 4 days, a total of € 1,560. –
There is also a € 0.23 km allowance per km and a parking or public transport allowance.
