The client Global Information Services (GIS) department Infrastructure Support provides technical application-, network-, server-, and database support to ensure the continuous availability of the clients business-applications.
The production environments (globally used) are hosted in a data-centre in Amsterdam and the development-, test-, and acceptance-environments are hosted in Rotterdam.
Within the Unix & Database team we have a position for an experienced and pro-active Unix & Storage expert with strong technical-, communication- & project-participation skills.
We are looking for a candidate who matches the following profile:
• Demonstrable (minimally 2 year) experience with professional support of business-critical Unix-Server (AIX) & Storage-Filer (OnTap) environments
• Experience with network configuration of Unix & Storage servers is a considerable advantage
• Motivated to initiate and participate in a team-effort to assess the Unix & Storage architecture: actively suggest and implement technical & support improvements
• Comfortable working both on your own, and in cooperation (technically and functionally) with the network-, windows-, and application- support-teams
• Responsible for professionalizing daily Unix-, Storage-, and Database-support, including system-monitoring & -maintenance, and -tuning
• Interested in improving project-involvement and plan(ning)-based working
• A common-sense approach to IT-support & trouble-shooting
• Preferably experience with Oracle database support, Optio output handling, ESX hosting, and backup & monitoring applications
• Familiar with ITIL concepts
• Enthusiastic team-member, capable of working in (sometimes) stressful conditions
• Willing to undertake stand-by duties (circa one week per 4 weeks) & regularly work in weekends (circa once per month)
• Fluent in English and Dutch

• Other common applications include MySpace (Java-based web-application), Optio (output handling), and HP Service-Desk. the majority of these applications run on Windows servers (Windows-2003 R-2, self-hosted word-wide Active-Directory domain) and store data in Oracle (9i, hosted on Windows & AIX) or MS-SQL (2000 & 2005) databases and/or use Windows shares on the storage-servers
• Virtualization: ESX-3.0.1 (Windows servers) & LPAR (AIX servers)
• Data-replication: ONTAP SnapMirror (storage filers), Oracle DataGuard (Oracle databases), and SQL Server Replication (MS-SQL databases)
• Oracle tools: Grid-Control
• Monitoring: based on Nagios, in the near future: SCOM
• Backups: based on CommVault
• Incident & problem registration: based on HP Service Desk
• E-mail and calendaring: Lotus-Notes 7.0.3
